2005 Floodplain Napa Valley Proprietary Red Wine $6.99

Silverdale, WA

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah;  Clear deep garnet; a bit of vegetal, green bean in the nose—not what I would expect from Napa fruit—Monterey maybe, but not Napa; there is some leather (back label says “saddle leather”, a level of specificity I hope to never attain!) and eucalyptus too; in the mouth there’s more leather and Syrah blackberry with Merlot cherry; there is decent tannin, giving it firm texture; acidity is about what it should be; the finish is a bit short and slightly washed out.  A sound, but ordinary red.  I won’t go back for more.
