Carneros AVA, CA
$5 at Renton, WA (purchased 4/26/13)
Dark red in color and a touch cloudy. Spice box nose with cinnamon and blackberry fruit, plum, and smoke. On the fruit forward side with blackberries, dark cherry fruit, and prune . Smooth and silky with fine mid palate tannins that are well integrated. Secondary flavors of coffee, smoke, leather and some pepper. It shows its age well. The only downside to this wine was being a bit to pruney for me. It was probably very good in its peak. I give it a drinkable+ and you might want to try it for $5.
Buena Vista has gone through a revival of late and the wines from their Ramal Vineyard (same as this syrah) are worth trying when you can find them discounted.
