I’ve seen a number of wines from Blackstone at the GO, but this is the first one I’ve tried. Its pale yellow-green color looked like a good SB; this impression was reinforced by the description on the back label; and the price was less than previous offerings.
It turned out to be a good guess, as this is pretty tasty Sauvignon Blanc for those who like a less ripe style. It showed flavors of gooseberry, melon (green honeydew, white of the rind, and a little light yellow), lime juice, mild grass / hay, white pepper, definite minerality, and lively acid that is not too sharp. The back label says, “”grapefruit, gooseberry, and hints of lemon grass,” and this is not a bad description, either. The next day, the rest of the bottle in the fridge was more smooth and integrated. I thought this wine was yummy, and about what we usually get for $6 at the GO these days, but it does not seem to be discounted that much.
