2010 Brovida Cordara Barbera, Piemonte, Italy $5.99

Silverdale, WA     12.5% alc.    (Purchased on 6/3/13)

IMG_1042Clear pale ruby with a youthful pinkish rim.  Nose shows dried cherry, earth, cinnamon and rose petals.  In the mouth it’s light and tart with very restrained, supple tannins.  The flavors show dried cherry, pie cherry, underripe raspberry, a little green peppercorn and more earthiness/sassafras bark.  Really a rather simple red with nice flavors, decent fruit and fine balance.  Clearly a food wine, though it sips by itself very nicely.

Saw nothing about vintage in your post, weinish…but I’m assuming it’s the same. And it appears we all had similar thoughts on the wine…light, unpretentious and tasty. Thanks for bringing it to my attention because I never saw that review.
