Tête du Rhône 2010 Côtes du Rhône rouge ($5)

Côtes du Rhône AOP, France. 13.5% ABV
Purchased 6/09/2013 at the Oakland, CA store

Tête du Rhône 2010 Côtes du Rhône rougeCrushed Montmorency cherries, raspberry jam, hint of licorice in the nose. A very smooth, well-balanced palate – hard to identify individual grapes in this fairly seamless blend, but hey, the more the merrier. A well-made CdR and a crowd pleaser if not a stunner. Deep fruit flavor, medium bodied and no real flaws except a touch of heat on the finish. Relatively simple but solid and enjoyable, A good drink and don’t think too much about it summer red for hearty BBQ fare.

As of 7/5/13, the Silverdale store is still sitting on a pile of the 2009. However, they also had what appeared to be a limited quantity of the 2010 now, so I picked up a couple at $5.99 each.

This is a pretty good wine. If you’re looking for a red wine for a summer bbq, you should buy a few bottles of this.
