Silverdale, WA 13% alc. (Purchased on 10/3/13)
Brilliant medium golden color; some light sulfury aromas gradually blow off to reveal the typical New Zealand grassy gooseberry bouquet. There’s tons of sweet fruit here that’s cut by lemony citrus acidity. Flavors of more distinct grass, gooseberry and fresh mown hay. Perfectly fits the NZ Sauvignon Blanc profile, including the cat piss finish. Delicious and a great buy for lovers of this style. Right up my alley.
Seedboy first mentioned this wine last month when it showed up in Berkeley. And I can see what he’s saying about a tobacco flavor, though to me it’s faint…and doesn’t detract in the least.
