Silverdale, WA 13.5% alc. (Purchased on 10/5/13)
The P.K.N.T. Carmenere Reserve has been reviewed on this site and I believe the Cabernet and Merlot are currently available at the Silverdale GO. It appears the Carmenere is part of their Gold (rather than Silver line of wines). Perhaps the Gold line is for “Reserves”. I kind of like the packaging, but that may be the best feature of this white.
Brilliant medium golden; toasted grain and pear bouquet; somewhat soft in texture, yet tart and citrusy with flavors of grapefruit, pear and a certain earthiness. Slightly bitter finish. This is one of the least typical (and interesting) southern hemisphere Sauv Blancs I’ve had in some time in that it’s lacking most of the gooseberry qualities I so enjoy. Pretty simple stuff.
