Silverdale, WA 13% alc. (Purchased on 10/22/13)
Opaque dark purple; has a sort of roasted tomato, tar and blackberry nose…somewhat dark and brooding and slow to fully open up. First thing that hit me on the palate was the fairly high, tart acidity. Medium weight with light tannins and even though it’s rather dark, the flavors seem more red fruit based i.e. red and black raspberry, rhubarb and cranberry. Somehow seems to lack fruit and flavor definition. Should be a pretty decent food wine and it may even age well. But for me, it’s just a bit too indistinct and ordinary. Tart finish too. Definitely old world style.
