Silverdale, WA 13.7% alc. (Purchased on 1/15/14)
From Conway Family Wines. Brilliant pale golden; light buttery oak and citrus in the nose; soft and smooth on the front of the palate with flavors of lime zest and pineapple intermingled with toasty oak. Nice acidity. The alcohol doesn’t really hit until the finish and there’s a little bitterness there too. Far less intrusive than the last vintage…the 15% alc. monster Chard that was just too weird for me. Actually, flitcraft said just about everything that needs to be said for this vintage. And I totally buy into her comment about “naked” Chardonnays too…if I drink Chardonnay at all. This is a very reasonably priced and quite drinkable Chardonnay.
