Silverdale, WA 13.5% alc. (Purchased on 1/24/14)
Pours a clear medium ruby color; nose is very fragrant, but rather fruity and candyish with underlying green stemmy aromas and some metallic nuances. The flavors show cherry cough drop and an almost corked quality at times…but it’s sealed with a screw cap. There’s a bit of red raspberry and barely noticeable oak too. Acidity and tannins aren’t bad for what it is, but it’s a very simple wine that holds little interest for me. Might be an o.k. summer red quaffer…perhaps even slightly chilled.
Back label says, “Enjoy this full bodied red with a barbecued steak, lasagna or spicy Tex-Mex dinner”. I’m not sure how they arrived at those matches. Seems we might not be talking about the same wine. For this price tag, there are better choices at GO.
