2012 Bacán Sauvignon Blanc

DO Curico Valley, Chile; 13% ABV
$4 at the Berkeley, CA, store on 10 March

2012_Bacan_SauvBlancAlthough Lim13 was not as fond of the 2011 vintage of this wine, I quite liked it, so I immediately grabbed this bottle off the shelf.  While the general flavor profile of the 2012 is similar to the 2011, the newer vintage is less intense and lively.

I’d say this also has gooseberry, lime, yellow melon, a slight minerality and oak.  However, the main character is mostly sort of “vinous” (“tastes like wine”) instead of these flavors, making it sort of bland, at least compared to the 2011.  So… okay the price, but for me, nothing to consider getting twice.
