2010 Ordaz Sauvignon Blanc

Sonoma Valley, CA; 14.3% ABV
$4 at the Richmond, CA, store on 5 March.  Also seen at Berkeley 10 March.

2010_Ordaz_SauvBlancThis wine, apparently from a small operation in Sonoma Valley, seemed like it might be good.  Unfortunately, however, I can’t recommend it.

While the wine has some typical Sauvignon Blanc flavors of yellow / white melon and lemon, these are quite light and are overwhelmed by a weird oak / artificially flavored candy flavor.  It’s not totally unpleasant, and it’s pretty close to Drinkable, but I have to go with Thumbs Down.

Sorry that you had a bad experience with our wine. That wine was sold to another winery under the understanding that it was going to be blended with another SB. We have not sold 2010 SB in over a year. We are bottling new wines in June and would love (Seedboy) to send you a bottle so that you can see that we DO produce excellent wines.

Greetings Ms. Ordaz and thank you for giving us some context for this wine. I’m certainly willing to believe that, especially by the time I found it in the Grocery Outlet, it did not represent the best efforts of your winery.

i bought one bottle of this and drank it over about four days. This is the time of the year I’m looking for SB but I’m not going to buy any more of this.
