Yes…THAT Tyler Florence…the chef from a number of Food Network programs. Actually the wine was made by the Michael Mondavi Family and specifically Rob Mondavi Jr. Back label says the wine was “crafted…from the finest spots along the eastern flank of the Napa Valley” (i.e. Atlas Peak, Chiles Valley, Howell Mountain). I don’t recall ever having a non-vintage Sauvignon Blanc…and this one is mighty tasty.
Brilliant pale green/golden; nose is showing some spice, some pear and very nicely integrated fresh mown hay and grassy aromas. In the mouth there’s more of all the same qualities as in the nose along with grapefruit in a dry, but fruity style; medium body and citrusy tart acidity. A very flavorful, well-made Sauv Blanc that will do well with seafood and simple chicken dishes. We had it with spicy shrimp over mascarpone polenta and mussels steamed in this wine…delicious!
