Gérard Bertrand 2012 Muscato

Pays D’Oc IGP, France; 10% ABV
$3 at the Richmond, CA, store on 3 Nov

Bertrand_2012_MuscatoWith the range of Bertrand reds we’ve seen lately, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a white. This wine is lightly off-dry but not sparkling, as some Moscatos are.  The fragrant wine wine has flavors of white and yellow flowers, perfumed yellow / green melon, and a trace of lemon.  The flavors are well integrated into a very smooth and even taste.  It stood up well to spicy pork and tofu over brown rice, but I imagine there are better pairings.  If you’re fond of this kind of thing, this is a nice bargain.
